DAILY UPDATE #6 -- 3/23/2020

  • AASD Office Closure:  March 16 through April 3, 2020

AASD will be sending out a Daily Update, Monday-Friday, throughout the school closure period.  At this time, schools are closed through April 3, with students returning April 6.  Of course, that is open to modification as we go into the upcoming weeks.  The AASD Office will remain closed during the period of time the district is closed.  AASD staff will be working remotely and can be reached at the contact information at the end of this e-mail.

AASD has created a Google Form for AASD Members to report issues, questions or concerns regarding work-related issues and the COVID-19 virus.  Any issues, questions or concerns submitted via the Google form will be shared daily with the District.  AASD will then share the answers to issues, questions or concerns submitted as those answers are received from the district.

The link to share issues/questions/concerns is:
    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeVSsqBQSHboCdgqbnpaucUY--DHKjosG8MAmRuCxawzB4blg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Please do not share this link outside of AASD membership (classified and certificated management/supervisors).  The link will be active until this crisis is over.  PLEASE CHECK THE DISTRICT’S WEBSITE TO ENSURE YOUR ISSUE/QUESTION/ CONCERN HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN ADDRESSED THERE.

NOTE:  All previous AASD Daily Updates and Weekly Updates are located on the AASD Website www.aasdcs.org if you need to refer back to them for information.

  • Q and A (March 23, 2020)   (Questions were submitted by AASD members; the answers are from the District.  AASD publishes the answers as they are received from the District.)

Q – As a central office program manager I seem to be out of the loop on information that is being sent out from area superintendents to principals about SDEA certificated staff. How can we make sure that I get the same information to interact and communicate with the certificated and classified staff who are looking to me for advisement?   If staff are scheduled to be off calendar do they take the time off or do we change the calendars? No one has an answer for me and I have five staff scheduled to be off before and the week after spring break.
A --  Per the District:  Please see detail information and FAQs on the COVID-19 webpage at:
    https://sites.google.com/sandi.net/covid19/staff-info

Q --  I am AASD Certificated and I received a pink slip (March 15 notice) and missed the deadline for turning in my signed receipt to HR. I’m mailing it in now. Are there ramifications for turning it in late?
A --  (Answered by AASD).  No, there are no ramifications for turning it in late.  In fact, the District simply has to prove they mailed it and it really doesn’t matter if the employee returns it or not.  Any AASD member who is truly in jeopardy of being reassigned was called to meet with HR the first week of March.

Q -- Communications are being sent out to staff but too often principals are not being included in the emails which are important. No communications to site staff should go out without including the principal. Let us decide if it is something that we need to know or do something about. We need to be included on all emails to our staff
A --  Thank you for bringing this to the District’s attention. This concern was shared with executive leadership with a request to copy a site principal on any communications sent to their staff.
