DAILY UPDATE #122 -- 9/15/2020

  • Q and A (Tuesday, September 15, 2020)
Q:  Is the Phase One Appointment Based Instruction implementation timeline still the end of September?  Principals were informed that Initial ELPAC is due September 30, which is administered online and training for some is on September 15, which leaves Principals with only 11 days to coordinate online administration of the ELPAC - which has never been done before. In addition, site SPSAs are due October 5 and SPSA Training is September 16, which leaves Principals 12 school days to meet with SSC, ELAC and other advisory groups. I think the goal of implementing Phase One Appointment Based Instruction at the end of September is very unrealistic.
A:  (Answer provided by AASD)  Over the past week or so, AASD has shared with district executive leadership that implementing Phase One Appointment Based Instruction the last week of September is not realistic due to so many logistics that need to be resolved prior to implementation.  Currently, a planning group composed of district leadership and principals is meeting to develop an implementation plan.  While official notification and timelines must come to principals from the district, AASD is sitting in on these meetings and it is clear that implementation will NOT be the end of September, but at a later, undetermined date.  More information will be forthcoming from the district.
