  • Q and A (Monday, September 21, 2020)
Q:  I’m curious as to why the district has now changed their Hot Spot request policy and are having principals approve or decline. Why are we given this charge? How will it look if we decline a hot spot to any employee? This should be something the district decides not principals.
A:  (Answer provided by the District)  As with any technology or other support that there is cost associated, managers/principals should be aware and be part of the approval process. It allows managers to have knowledge of when the technology was requested and determine if in this case a hot spot is appropriate for the duties being assigned .

Q:  (Presumably submitted by a Principal)  The AASD daily update has gotten way too long and cumbersome. It is a time consuming chore to read through it every day. Please do not repeat information that the district has already emailed to us or posted on the principal page. Please only post information that we are not getting in any other way. Also, separate the repeat information from the information that is new for that day. We shouldn’t have to spend so much time sorting through to see what the important information is that we don’t already know.
A:  (Answer provided by AASD)   Thank you for your input.  The reason AASD repeats information from the Principals Update is because we represent not only Principals but Vice Principals, Central Office Certificated Managers, Classified Managers and Supervisors who do not receive the Principals Update from the district and are very often left in the dark on what is going on.  AASD knows that part of our Daily AASD Update is redundant to Principals; however, it meets the needs of our other members.  Additionally, AASD is sorry you feel reading the Daily Update is a “time consuming chore.”  AASD has received a lot of feedback from members that they are very appreciative of the Daily Update and wish for it to continue during these unprecedented times.

From Barb Waller, Principal, Barnard Elementary “I would like to offer my sincerest gratitude to Eron Easter in the Area 3 Finance Department! During these often difficult and frustrating times, it is so amazing to feel the support of Eron, who listens, and never makes me feel that my issue is trivial. In addition, she responds to all questions quickly and is always available to help with whatever she can, whenever she can. I hope she knows how very much she is appreciated and loved!”
