  • Q and A (Monday, October 19, 2020)
Q:   Do all staff have to be Covid-19 tested and negative prior to returning to the site? The staff letter indicates "highly recommend" testing staff.  If so, how can this be done prior to Phase One on October 13th? Please be specific and use clear decisive language, must, shall, so it is clear!
A:  Testing is not mandatory but is highly suggested for health and safety.  The County has convenient testing facilities located near your home or school.  Some are designated for school personnel only
https://www.sdcoe.net/news/Pages/School-Employee-Only-COVID-Testing-Sites-Announced.aspx. Of these, the main San Diego Unified facility is located at the Ballard Center in Old Town.  For convenience, any school staff member can also go to any one of the County’s other testing facilities  https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/hhsa/programs/phs/community_epidemiology/dc/2019-nCoV/testing.html.  For a list of those sites and their hours of operation, see this County map, https://www.arcgis.com/apps/Nearby/index.html?appid=f3e3c0f175fd4ee782b781833d7bb0fb or call 211 for information.

Q:  Friday, my BSS told me that the local POS told him that phase 2 and phase 3 will not involve elementary schools. Why is the POS getting information about the phases before the principals?
A:  (Answer provided by AASD)   The information you have received is not accurate.  The district is bargaining phase two and subsequent phases with SDEA at this time.  There is no information to be shared publicly at this time about phase 2 or any subsequent phase.  The information you received is inaccurate and is likely a rumor that appears to be running through the custodial workforce.
