DAILY UPDATE #170 -- 12/03/2020

  • NEW ITEMS

  • COVID TESTING SITES
Information received from the District is that the Ballard Center COVID testing site is being closed by the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE).  SDUSD asked that it remain open, however the SDCOE made the decision to close it due to lack of business.  The SDCOE has sites open in other areas including El Cajon and Del Mar.  SDUSD employees are NOT required to use a SDCOE testing site and may use any of the County of San Diego sites.  To locate a testing site closer to work or home, simply dial 2-1-1 or go to the website  https://211sandiego.org/covid19/covid-19-testing/  for testing locations.  There are many locations throughout San Diego County including one at the bottom of Linda Vista Road that is not far from Ballard Center.  All SDUSD employees who are reporting to a physical work site are encouraged to take advantage of COVID testing every two weeks.  This is not mandated at this time, but highly encouraged.

For your information, ten SDUSD school sites will be piloting onsite COVID testing beginning December 14.  This is in conjunction with UCSD.  The testing at these pilot sites is for staff on those sites only.  It is not open to other district employees.

AASD thanks Susan Barndollar in Nursing and Wellness for her help in clarifying COVID testing processes and procedures.  At AASD, we appreciate you, Susan!

The following communication was sent to principals on December 2:

  • PARAEDUCATOR ALLOCATIONS
    • Based on feedback from principals we are halting the movement of Paraeducators to provide principals an opportunity to review the data in each child’s IEP. Principals need to complete the following steps by 5:00 PM on Friday, December 4, 2020.
    • Paraeducator allocations are based on the needs of students as identified in the IEP.  To check the services identified in the IEP documents, please review your student’s IEPs.
      • Please use the SE Roster report to monitor caseloads.  This is the same data that is used in CSR.
      • Steps to take to help align report:
        • Check that students are in Special Education
          • Initial IEP is set to Final
          • Interim Placement is set to Final
        • Make sure all Special Education students at the site are correctly assigned to Case Manager caseload. Job Aid Working With Caseload
        • Make sure the student services are appropriately identified within the student’s IEP. When assessment for Supplemental Supports determine supplemental supports are needed, the Supplemental Support area on the IEP Services section must be completed to document supports. This is the data used to determine paraeducator allocations.
          • Here is the job aid for reference.
        • Determine which students are not on the report and send IDs to Shane Moore to troubleshoot.
    • Principals can submit a para review request when they have a concern about their paraprofessional allocation.
      • Forms submitted are reviewed on a weekly basis during the school year.
