  • COMMENT REGARDING REOPENING SCHOOLS
AASD is receiving quite a few questions about the target date of April for reopening schools.  AASD will be entering into bargaining regarding the impacts and effects of the decision.  There is much to be discussed.  We know there are many unanswered questions.  AASD will keep members informed as soon as we have information to share.  Thank you to all of our members for your patience and understanding.  We know this is a very stressful time.  We are here for you!

  • Q AND A  (Wednesday, February 24, 2021)
Q:  From a principal:  We went through the hoops to allow our VP access to the SBB.  We received approval from our Area Superintendent to allow them access.  We finally got the VP access only to have it taken away the next day.  When asked why they took it away, they said that it was going to the executive level to decide whether to allow VPs access. Seeking to again grant the VP access, we are now told we have to contact Chief of Staff.  My point, the rules to guidance keep changing without any apparent reason known.
A:  (Answer provided by the District)   Thank you for your feedback and understanding. If your VP does not currently have access, please email  your resource teacher and cc your Area Superintendent so that access can be approved and granted.

  • DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS
The following communication was sent to principals today:

  • HR: UNFILLED LEARNING LAB ASSIGNMENTS IN SAMS
    • SAMS and HR staff have made 170,000+ calls to our substitute employees (both VT and classified).
    • As a reminder, while the goal was that every school should have a Classroom Lab or a Learning Lab, do not invite students until you have confirmed staff will support the learning lab.
      • We are processing requests to add substitutes per principal recommendation.
      • We posted a 30-day permit substitute pool and continue to interview substitutes from other pools.
      • We know there are three schools where substitutes have accepted and then cancelled; please continue to put the jobs in SAMS and then complete an incident form so we can take action.
      • Contact your HRO if you need assistance.
