DAILY UPDATE #216 -- 2/26/2021

  • NEW ITEMS

  • DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS
The following communication was sent to principals on February 25:

  • MONITORING OVERDUE IEPS
    • Site Administrators should monitor overdue events on a regular basis (at least monthly) and develop appropriate support with their site teams to stay in compliance.
      • To monitor overdue data in PowerSchool IEP, add the ‘Overdue IEP Dates by Location’ report to their ‘My Homepage’ on Powerschool IEP to view overdue IEPs at a site and by case manager.
    • If you have questions about adding this report, please email Shane Moore at smoore5@sandi.net.

  • LEARNING LABS TIMEKEEPING
    • Please share this Learning Labs Timekeeping document with your site timekeeper.
    • If you have questions, please contact your budget analyst.

  • SCHOOL CHOICE UPDATE
    • Neighborhood Schools and Enrollment Options (NSEO) Department has processed the Choice Lottery.
      • Sites can expect to have access to their seated lists on February 26, 2021.
        • Parent email notifications will be dispatched the same day.
    • The School Choice Student Enrollment 2021-2022  (Admin Circular 40) for Magnet, Voluntary Enrollment Exchange Program [VEEP], and Open Enrollment Placement Lists provides details for processing Choice Enrollment, including steps to take for staff to have access to the PowerSchool Choice Workspace for their site.
    • New This Year:  Parents can electronically accept or decline offers of Choice enrollment via a link in the email notification letter.
      • This will significantly reduce enrollment staff workload.

  • WEB ACCESS AND UPDATES
    • The Communications Department has compiled a list of resources to help principals and others navigate the website for access and updates.

  • AFTER-HOURS CAMPUS ACCESS
    • Site staff can now access school sites after hours (weekdays/weekends) following the same process that was used prior to school closures:
      • Staff on the approved site access list (via School Police) will need to call in and call out to access campus after hours.
      • Staff not on the approved School Police list will need to get approval from their principal. The principal will communicate the approved staff to School Police.
      • Staff accessing the campus after hours will still need to comply with ALL health and safety protocols currently in place for campus access:
        • A health screening must be completed prior to arriving on campus: ClearPass.
        • Masks must be worn at all times.
        • Staff must maintain 6 feet of physical distancing and not congregate in common areas.
        • Staff should notify their site custodial staff which areas they accessed after hours that may need to be cleaned or sanitized.
      • For all health and safety guidelines please see here.
    • After-hours access should be monitored and limited to reduce contact between staff members and maintain the safety of the campus.

Received from an AASD Member in Good Standing:  “GRATITUDE for John Hensley, Drew Rowlands, and Greg Ottinger.  Ask and ye shall receive! I brought to Drew and Greg's attention that our BSS had been denied some basic supplies for preparing rooms for Phase One Expansion --  and John personally dropped them off a few hours later.  THANK YOU, ALL, FOR EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!”
