DAILY UPDATE #256 -- 5/04/2021

  • NEW ITEMS

  • CHANGE IN SCHEDULE OF AASD DAILY UPDATE
Today starts the new schedule of the “Daily” Update being produced on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

  • Q and A  (Tuesday, May 4, 2021)
Q:  Three questions about lunch and using BSS's/POS’ properly: 1) If sites are serving food in classrooms is more cleaning time and manpower being given to clean rooms?  2) Why is BSS/POS delivering food to classrooms?  3.) Why is BSS/POS being asked to give teachers restroom breaks including during that 6th hour?
A:  (Answer provided by the district)  Managing the BSS or POS schedule is the site administrator’s responsibility.  Bear in mind these are unique times.  Site’s should consider what daily work should be performed Monday through Thursday and what work can be done on Friday when there is less traffic on campus.

Q:  When will district leadership give direction on administration of the SBA? Sites need time to prepare for this assessment if we are giving it, especially with students who are online only.
A:  (Answer provided by the District)  We anticipate providing information to school leaders this week.

Q:  Have Vice Principals been staffed for Summer School/Summer Experience/ESY yet?
A:  (Per Acacia Thede, Chief HR Officer)  Acacia is working on staffing VP’s today and this week.

      • While the law was in effect January 1st, the District did not make the adjustment as our current bargaining agreements maintained the twelve (12) month probationary period. Those agreements expired on June 30, 2020.
      • Effective July 1, 2020  the District was required to conform to the revised six (6) month probationary period.

    • The Performance Evaluation Reports for Probationary and Permanent/Probationary unit members shall be completed any time prior to the end of the third (3rd) month and at least one (1) month prior to completion of the probationary period (5th month).

    • Employees will receive their notices of reassignment this week and site administrators will be copied.
