SPECIAL UPDATE -- 5/10/2021
 

  • AASD AND THE DISTRICT REACH AGREEMENT ON AN INCENTIVE FOR CERTIFICATED MEMBERS TO WORK SUMMER SCHOOL/ESY
    Friday evening, AASD signed off on an agreement regarding incentive pay for our certificated members who elect to work as the administrator for the summer program at their site or at another site as assigned.  Principals and vice principals who elect to work summer school/ESY and are assigned by HR will receive a 2% incentive.  The 2% incentive is 2% of annual salary as  one-time additional compensation.  (Examples – An administrator who makes $120,000 annually would receive an incentive of $2400;  an administrator who makes $135,000 annually, would receive an incentive of  $2700, etc.)  This compensation is in addition to the principal pay for performing their regular duties and in addition to the pay vice principals will receive for working the summer program.  For the actual language, a link to the agreement is below.
     
    On Saturday morning, a communication went out to principals and vice principals from Acacia Thede, Human Resources and detailed the process for AASD certificated principals and vice principals who wish to change their mind about working as the summer program administrator based on this new agreement.  There is a deadline of 5pm today to notify the district of the members’ desire to work the summer program (if the member originally declined the work).  See the link to the letter below and directions about submitting a new request to work.
     
    Please note the requirement to work at least 90% of the assignment.  Those who accept an assignment and are then off work for more than 10% of the assignment will not be eligible for the incentive.  (There is language about extenuating circumstances.)  There is also language allowing AASD members to split the assignment which will result in each member receiving half of the incentive pay.

    Classified AASD Members Assigned to a School Site (Example, BSS III, POS, Food Services Area Supervisor, Food Services Supervisor and other classifications within AASD assigned to a school site and assigned to the summer program) – More information will be forthcoming.  AASD is still in negotiations with the district on an incentive for school based AASD members who are supporting the summer programs.  As soon as information is available, AASD will communicate with our classified members.
