  • DISTRICT COMMUNICATION

The following communication was sent to principals on May 19:

  • OVERVIEW OF VIRTUAL ACADEMY
    • We are in the process of developing a robust online learning program for students who will choose an online instructional model.
    • Yesterday, the District met with SDEA regarding the impacts and effects of the 2021-2022 school year during the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • The District presented our initial proposal related to health and safety precautions, and an overview of the District’s plan for a Virtual Academy magnet school for those families interested in an online school.
    • Please click these links for the initial proposal and Virtual Academy overview discussed during the first session of bargaining.  The documents are provided to our administrators for awareness as we continue with active impacts and effects negotiations with SDEA.
    • Principals will receive information in the next couple days that can be shared with families about the next school year, including the Virtual Academy.

  • INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTES & BELL SCHEDULES 2021-22
    • As shared in Monday’s Ops meeting, the administrative circulars related to instructional minutes and entering bell schedules in PowerSchool have been revised.
      • In order to give sites enough time to meet the June 1 due date, we are sharing the revised documents prior to posting on the Bulletins & Circulars webpage:
      • Contacts for questions are listed at the bottom of each circular.

  • COVID TESTING UPDATE
    • To make onsite COVID testing more accessible to students and more streamlined overall, we made changes to testing times starting next week. (Only one site had a day changed).
      • For those sites with increased testing needs, UCSD is planning to send increased staffing to help.
      • High School times have increased to 11am to 4pm.
      • The  appointment times on the sign up link may not change immediately.  All appointments will be honored even if the schedule reflects an incorrect time.
    • All schedule changes are highlighted and can be viewed on the calendar on our website.

    Revised Grade Change Procedure
    • As discussed during the Operations Meeting on Monday, the Grade Change Procedure and Form have been revised to include “demonstrated mastery of standards” as an additional justification for a grade change:
      • Remember that educators must provide evidence to support the grade change and the evidence should be attached or explained in the Form.
      • Grade Changes occurring during the next semester or quarter can be approved by the Principal. Grade Changes occurring AFTER the next semester or quarter must get Area Superintendent approval.
      • This NEW Grade Change Circular is being routed for posting on the Bulletins & Circular webpage and will be assigned a number once it is posted.
