  • LEADERSHIP AND LEARNING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CALENDARS
  • LONG-TERM CLOSURE GRADING POLICY
    • On May 25th, the Board approved the definition of a long-term school closure and the process for grade validation in revisions to AR 5121.1 Grades/Evaluation of Student Progress During School Closures:
      • During long-term school closures, a student who earns a “F” grade in the first semester or quarter of a course may improve the grade to a “D” by earning a passing grade of “D” or better in the second semester or quarter of the same course, with credit then granted for both semesters/quarters. This policy applies only to courses required to meet high school graduation requirements and only for grades issued for the first semester or quarter of a course.
    • This revision ONLY applies to high school coursework. This does not impact elementary or middle school coursework since courses are year-long.
    • This revision applies to all grading terms for the 2020-21 school year. Site techs and registrars will receive instructions on how to run grade reports for grade validation.
    • The approval of the revised policy also enacts the option for emergency school closure graduation waivers for current seniors. Waivers can ONLY be used for the following reasons:
      • Courses where students received an NG in Spring 2020 and were unable to make up the course.
      • Overall GPA is below a 2.0, but at least a 1.75.
    • Counselors will follow the same procedures for emergency school closure waivers as last year.
    • For questions, contact Nicole DeWitt.
