Important note – AFSA sends out an email every July to all members who have registered on-line to remind them to log back in and click on UPDATE and they will receive a new membership card back via email.

Summerfest is FREE for all members – Members in Good Standing, Affiliate Members and Retired Members.  This western-themed party includes appetizers, dinner, dessert, and beverages.  And back by popular demand is the DJ, BTK, who provided an evening of fun dance music at Winterfest in December!
Appetizers, buffet dinner, and dessert will be provided by Bekker’s Catering.  The delicious menu is listed on the Summerfest flyer!  Beverages will include sodas, iced tea, coffee, beer, and wine.

]]> CALSTRS AND CALPERS POWER OF ATTORNEY – IMPORTANT! https://aasdcs.org/2026/01/15/calstrs-and-calpers-power-of-attorney-important/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=calstrs-and-calpers-power-of-attorney-important Fri, 16 Jan 2026 00:56:53 +0000 https://aasdcs.org/?p=6593 All AASD Members in Good Standing and Affiliate Members are highly encouraged to complete the applicable retirement system Power of Attorney form.  In the event the member becomes incapacitated and unable to manage their own affairs, the power of attorney can make decisions regarding the members’ retirement account.  This is particularly important if the member is terminally ill and can no longer communicate or make decisions.  To make decisions regarding the retirement plan, the form listed below must be on file with the retirement system.  A medical or other type of power of attorney is not accepted by the retirement system.  Please ensure you have this form on file.  Hopefully, you never need it but if you do, it will give you peace of mind.  Please share this information with co-workers and staff at your site.

]]> The AASD Scholarship Program Needs You! https://aasdcs.org/2025/10/30/did-you-know-aasd-provides-scholarships/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=did-you-know-aasd-provides-scholarships Thu, 30 Oct 2025 21:46:11 +0000 https://aasdcs.org/?p=6514 AASD provides scholarships (currently $1,000) to each graduating/promoting senior child of our Members in Good Standing, Affiliate Members and Retired Members who apply!  It is a wonderful program that has been in place for decades.  In lieu of fundraising events to support this program, AASD established a payroll deduction to fund this program. 100% of the scholarship donations go to the AASD Scholarship program!

The UASC Foundation is a 501(c)3 public non-profit charity; therefore, donations are tax deductible. Thank you in advance for helping AASD to maintain the Scholarship program!

The AASD Board of Directors is encouraging all Members in Good Standing and Affiliate Members to consider donating via payroll deduction in support of our program.  By clicking the provided link or scanning the QR code below, members can make a donation 10 times a year (August through May) of either $3, $5, $10 or $20 per month via payroll deduction.  Link – AASD Scholarship Payroll Deduction    QR Code – Scholarship Payroll Deduction

Members (active or retired) may make a direct donation by sending a check to the AASD office or calling the office with a debit or credit card information.  Checks should be payable to “UASC Foundation,” and in the memo, write “AASD Scholarship Fund.”

AASD would also like to acknowledge that all dues paid by AASD Retired Members (annually or one-time lifetime) go directly to the AASD Scholarship Fund.

    HYBRID WORK. The district and AASD met at bargaining on May 8 to review the district’s policy on Hybrid Work.  The policy will be going to the Board of Education for approval in early June for a July 1 implementation.  More information will be forthcoming.
