- AASD OFFICE CLOSURE
AASD will be sending out a Daily Update, Monday-Friday, throughout the school closure period. The AASD Office will remain closed during the period of time the schools/district are closed. AASD staff will be working remotely and can be reached at the contact information at the end of this Update.
AASD has created a Google Form for AASD Members to report issues, questions or concerns regarding work-related issues and the COVID-19 virus. Any issues, questions or concerns submitted via the Google form will be shared daily with the District. AASD will then share the answers to issues, questions or concerns submitted as those answers are received from the district. You may also share your gratitude for another AASD member, district personnel, etc. via the same link.

- Q and A (Friday, April 17, 2020) (Questions were submitted by AASD members; the answers are from the District. AASD publishes the answers as they are received from the District.)
Q -- I saw that AASD bargained to get principals hazard pay (time and a half) for the days that are required to open our sites for teachers. Is this retro to the March 27th day that we had teachers onsite for material pickup?
A – (Answer provided by AASD) Yes, the bargained agreement is effective March 16 and retroactive. Guidelines regarding reporting of time went to timekeepers yesterday from Payroll.
Q – I have fundraiser items that are awaiting distribution (See's candy). I have volunteers who can distribute in “drive up fashion.” What are district's directive to distribute these type of items? Can it be distributed just like meals are distributed in a “drive-up” fashion?
A – (Answer provided by the District) The Area Superintendent worked with the principal for a solution and to resolve this issue. (The principal provided their name on the google form)
Q – School sites and the purchasing department are closed. What are we to do in regards to utilizing our budgets to order supplies/equipment/etc. before the budget year ends?
A – (Answer provided by the District) Strategic Sourcing is open. The staff is working from home and are available by email. Purchasing timelines have been extended.
Q -- I'm drowning in work to do. Every day I try to be positive and respond to emails, teachers, students, parents, etc., and at the end of the day, we get an email filled with information that requires more work to do. I feel like I can't get caught up. Just as I sigh at the end of a long screen-filled day, I walk away with more google doc links then I can open and respond to. It's exhausting.... (Submitted by a High School Principal)
A – (Answer provided by the District) Thank you for your feedback. This information was shared with executive leadership.
Q -- Although I appreciate intentions behind having a daily check-in with my Action Team Leader, I'm finding that it's becoming too much. Sometimes there isn't anything more to add and it's just one more meeting in the day. Other times I'm being asked questions that I don't have answers to. For example, the paraeducator flyer just came out and I'm being asked who has attended PD. I don't know. It makes me feel bad. Is it possible to have a check-in 1-2 times per week instead? If anything really pressing comes up in between, we can always reach out to them. Thanks for listening.
A – (Answer provided by the District) Thank you for your feedback. This information was shared with executive leadership.
