DAILY UPDATE #37 -- 5/05/2020

  • AASD OFFICE CLOSURE

AASD will be sending out a Daily Update, Monday-Friday, throughout the school closure period.  The Weekly Update will continue as usual on Thursdays with the typical news and information for AASD members.  The AASD Office will remain closed during the period of time the schools/district are closed.  AASD staff will be working remotely and can be reached at the contact information at the end of this Update.

AASD has created a Google Form for AASD Members to report issues, questions or concerns regarding work-related issues and the COVID-19 virus.  Any issues, questions or concerns submitted via the Google form will be shared daily with the District.  AASD will then share the answers to issues, questions or concerns submitted as those answers are received from the district.  You may also share your gratitude for another AASD member, district personnel, etc. via the same link.

The link to share issues/questions/concerns/gratitude is:

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeVSsqBQSHboCdgqbnpaucUY--DHKjosG8MAmRuCxawzB4blg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Please do not share this link outside of AASD membership (classified and certificated management/supervisors).  The link will be active until this crisis is over.  PLEASE CHECK THE DISTRICT’S WEBSITE TO ENSURE YOUR ISSUE/QUESTION/ CONCERN HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN ADDRESSED THERE.

NOTE:  All previous AASD Daily Updates and Weekly Updates are located on the AASD Website www.aasdcs.org if you need to refer back to them for information.

  • Q and A (Tuesday, May 5, 2020)   (Questions were submitted by AASD members; the answers are from the District.  AASD publishes the answers as they are received from the District.)

Q – If I am a certificated member received a stipend for spring semester, will I still get it?
A – (Answer provided by AASD)   In the bargained COVID-19 Impact and Effects MOU, AASD negotiated that all stipends for certificated members for 2019-20 will be paid, including Spring semester.  This includes, but is not limited to, supervision stipends (for eligible vice principals), coaching stipends, PrimeTime stipends, etc.

Q - If I am assigned to work on a physical site on non-work day such as May 22, am I entitled to any additional bonus other than the time and a half pay?
A – (Answer provided by AASD)  This is likely specifically related to food services supervisors who are 10-month employees.  If a classified supervisor (who is normally eligible for straight time overtime or time and a half overtime) works on a non-calendar day such as May 22 then they are entitled to the time and a half pay for that day but no additional bonus.

  • SPECIAL GRATITUDE
If an AASD member has a department or individual that deserves special recognition during this time of crisis, please use the link above for reporting issues/questions/concerns/gratitude to show your gratitude for the department or individual.  AASD will publish that special thanks in our next Daily Update.

AASD is grateful for the dedication of the co-chairs of the Vice Principals Council (VPC) which is the informal group for Elementary, K-8 and Middle Level Vice Principals.  The co-chairs are Jon Robell, Jennifer Nash, Toni Curtis and Joey Lepetri who started the group in September 2019 with the approval of Superintendent Marten.  The VPC met today on Zoom with guest speakers Superintendent Marten and Chief of Staff Monreal to discuss their roles and share input regarding distance learning.  There were over 40 vice principals in the meeting which was productive and informative.  Great job, VPN Co-Chairs!  If you are an Elementary, K-8 or Middle School Vice Principal who hasn’t yet joined in on the VPC, contact Jon Robell at jrobell@sandi.net to be included in this group.

Note:  If there are any high school vice principals that would like to co-chair a High School Vice Principals group, please contact AASD – Donis Coronel – and we will help you get the group started for next year.
