  • NOTE:  THE DAILY UPDATE WILL NOT BE PRODUCED ON FRIDAY, JUNE 12, DUE TO UNAVAILABILITY OF THE AASD STAFF.  THE DAILY UPDATE WILL RESUME ON MONDAY, JUNE 15.

  • AASD OFFICE CLOSURE
AASD will be sending out a Daily Update, Monday-Friday, throughout the school closure period.  The Weekly Update will continue as usual on Thursdays with the typical news and information for AASD members.  The AASD Office will remain closed during the period of time the schools/district are closed.  AASD staff will be working remotely and can be reached at the contact information at the end of this Update.

AASD has created a Google Form for AASD Members to report issues, questions or concerns regarding work-related issues and the COVID-19 virus.  Any issues, questions or concerns submitted via the Google form will be shared daily with the District.  AASD will then share the answers to issues, questions or concerns submitted as those answers are received from the district.  You may also share your gratitude for another AASD member, district personnel, etc. via the same link.

The link to share issues/questions/concerns/gratitude is:

Please do not share this link outside of AASD membership (classified and certificated management/supervisors).  The link will be active until this crisis is over.  PLEASE CHECK THE DISTRICT’S WEBSITE TO ENSURE YOUR ISSUE/QUESTION/ CONCERN HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN ADDRESSED THERE.

NOTE:  All previous AASD Daily Updates and Weekly Updates are located on the AASD Website www.aasdcs.org if you need to refer back to them for information.

  • Q and A (Thursday, June 11, 2020)   (Questions were submitted by AASD members; the answers are from the District.  AASD publishes the answers as they are received from the District.)

Q -- What should we do if not all people (other staff) are practicing social distancing rules? Choosing not to wear masks, not taking the protocol seriously, etc. What are our personal protection rights?
A – (Answer provided by the District)  Thank you for your inquiry. It will be shared with the executive team.

Q -- Can you check with the District Benefits Department to see if they know if American Fidelity, administrator for our Flex Benefits Plan, will be extending the dates of this year's program beyond December 31, 2020 to use our contributed dollars? Or what options there might be if we are unable to use our contribution amount in 2020.
A – (Answer provided by the District)  This inquiry has been shared with the Benefits Department. More information will be forthcoming.

  • UPDATE ON VIRTUAL SUMMER INSTITUTE
AASD published this information below yesterday.  The District’s response to AASD’s inquiry about why Vice Principals were not invited to attend is below.

    • SAVE THE DATE: VIRTUAL SUMMER INSTITUTE - JUNE 24, 25 & 26
      • Principals and Certificated Teaching Staff are invited to our Virtual 3-day Summer Conference
      • The focus of this conference is to collaborate and learn on how to Widen our Sphere of Success for our English Learners with Disabilities and our most vulnerable learners.
      • We will send additional details for registration as attendance is limited. *all certificated teaching staff off calendar will be compensated for attending at the hourly workshop rate

    • (NOTE FROM AASD – AASD HAS INQUIRED AS TO WHETHER OR NOT VICE PRINCIPALS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND – MORE INFORMATION TO COME)

    • The District’s response to AASD’s inquiry about why Vice Principals are not invited to attend:   “Right now the district is not extending the invite to vice principals. The virtual capacity is limited, so the District wants to ensure that principals and teachers have the first opportunity to attend.  If space permits, the District will be extending the RSVP to vice principals and paraeducators.  Employees will be paid for attending.”

Of course, AASD is continuing to advocate for our Vice Principals to be invited to attend.

  • SPECIAL GRATITUDE
If an AASD member has a department or individual that deserves special recognition during this time of crisis, please use the link above for reporting issues/questions/ concerns/gratitude to show your gratitude for the department or individual.  AASD will publish that special thanks in our next Daily Update.

From an AASD Member in Good Standing – “I would like to personally thank Dr. Jennifer Roberson, Educational Complex Manager, Lincoln High. She is a phenomenal help to not only me but the other principals she has worked with. She listens, is supportive and empathetic to the difficult situation we are all in.”
