- DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS
The following communication was sent to principals on July 16:
- DEVICE UPDATE FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR
- We will transition to a 1:1 model for student devices. Students will have a Chromebook for use during online learning and when they return to school. Watch this overview video for more details.
- Principals can expect an informational document similar to this that explains provided inventory as well as procedures for checking devices out to students.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Julie Garcia or Toren Allen.
- MATH PRIORITIZATION GRADES TK-5, GRADES 6-8, & IM1 - IM3
- The SDUSD Math Leadership team, working alongside Dr. Patrick Callahan, has prioritized mathematics for Courses TK/K – IM3 using guidance from national experts and researchers.
- Click HERE to see the course prioritizations and learn more about resources and professional learning.
- Please share these resources with your staff and check back for updates.
- We are developing additional resources to address unfinished learning.
- IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS AND SCHOOL ENTRY
- There have been no changes to California State immunization laws.
- All students enrolling for school need to have up-to-date immunizations prior to enrollment. California State law of “No shots, No school” still applies. Students cannot enroll and attend online learning or in-person learning without immunizations under SB 277.
- This means that all students must be up-to-date on all required vaccines, or have a valid medical exemption, or an active IEP to enroll and be granted access to online or virtual learning.** Please note that there may be exceptions for students with current IEPs and those with approved medical exemption letters.
- SCHOOL WEBSITE UPDATE
- The district will transition to a new website platform in the next 2-3 weeks.
- Please read this memo from Communications with information on different training sessions.
- SPECIAL GRATITUDE
If an AASD member has a department or individual that deserves special recognition during this time of crisis, please use the link above for reporting issues/questions/ concerns/gratitude to show your gratitude for the department or individual. AASD will publish that special thanks in our next Daily Update.
Alexis Conerty, Principal, Florence Elementary would like to give a shout out to School Police and PPO for their diligence in keeping her school, Florence Elementary, safe. During the school closure there has been an influx of homeless and transients on the site. Both School Police and PPO have been responsive and have offered solutions such as temporary fencing and increased patrols which have made a huge difference!
