  • VOLUNTARY MEETING TODAY REGARDING MASTER SCHEDULE AND INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTES
District leadership reached out to AASD this morning to get AASD’s opinion on the voluntary meeting called today for Middle Level, K-8 and Senior High Principals regarding instructional minutes and master schedule.  While the district did not want to intrude on the off-calendar days of principals, there was an important need to share information.  AASD fully supported the voluntary meeting being called and asked that if a principal was not available to attend that they be permitted to have a vice principal attend the Zoom meeting.  AASD appreciates and thanks Dr. Sofia Roditti for being proactive in her communication with AASD and Nicole DeWitt for her leadership during this difficult time.

  • Q and A (Wednesday, August 5, 2020
AASD continues to receive communications from Principals regarding the MOU between SDUSD and SDEA that allows teachers the option of teaching from their classroom during online learning.  AASD has had numerous conversations with district executive leadership who have been very clear that site administrators (Principals and Vice Principals) are NOT required to be on campus, and there is NO PRESSURE OR EXPECTATION to be there.  All leadership and site administrator duties can be accomplished effectively remotely via e-mail, telephone and Zoom.  There is no expectation that the administrator(s) be on campus.

Q -- Many employees have expressed that they would take a "golden handshake" and there are rumors of one being considered. What update can we have on this issue and when will a decision (yes or no) be made?
A – (Answer provided by AASD)  AASD has not received any information from district executive leadership about the possibility of a retirement incentive, other than the fact the district asked the question in the survey last month to garner an idea of interest.  More information to come.
