DAILY UPDATE #108 -- 8/24/2020

  • AASD OFFICE CLOSURE.
AASD will be sending out a Daily Update, Monday-Friday, throughout the return to instruction/school reopening period.  The Weekly Update will continue as usual on Thursdays with the typical news and information for AASD members.  The AASD Office continues to remain closed.  AASD staff are working remotely and can be reached via the contact information at the end of this Update.

AASD has created a Google Form for AASD Members to report issues, questions or concerns regarding work-related issues, COVID-19, return to instruction and school reopening.  AASD will provide answers to issues, questions or concerns submitted as answers become available.  You may also share your gratitude for another AASD member, district personnel, etc., via the same link.

The link to share issues/questions/concerns/gratitude is:

    • BENCHMARK ADVANCE ELA/ELD OBSOLETE MATERIALS
      • The district recently adopted Benchmark Advance for grades TK-5 ELA/ELD and Amplify for grades 6-8.  These new instructional materials replace the old adoptions of Houghton Mifflin’s Legacy of Literacy for grades K-5; Prentice Hall Literature for grades 6-8 ELA; Keys to Learning, Shining Star, and Prentice Hall Literature for middle school ELD courses and are now considered obsolete.
      • The following options are available for these obsolete materials:
        • The obsolete materials can be given to students and parents.
        • The obsolete materials can be sent to the IMC Warehouse by submitting a Discarded Textbook Transfer Form to the Instructional Materials Office.  If this option is chosen, schools must prepare books for district truck pick-up by boxing or bundling books for delivery to the IMC Warehouse. Please mark all boxes/packages “Discard” and prepare a “Discarded Instructional Materials Transfer Form” available from the Instructional Materials Office website.  The IMC has a finite number of large gaylord boxes that can be used for discarding obsolete textbooks only.  You can request no more than two of these boxes by emailing Yvette yarambula@sandi.net or Anne amealiffe@sandi.net  in the Instructional Materials Office.
      • Additional information can be found by accessing the district’s Administrative Regulation 3270.
