  • SITE ADMINISTRATOR AND MANAGER/SUPERVISOR COVID REPORTING
There are some questions from AASD members about the procedures for reporting positive COVID cases and exposures.  If you are at a school site, the school nurse can assist (if available).  Below are links to the procedures, notification tree and documents you will need in the event you need to make a notification.

  • Q and A (Thursday, December 10, 2020)
Q:  Some teachers are doing online teaching from their classroom with no students in the classroom.  There is a teacher at the site that thinks it's a good idea to keep the door and windows open and not wear a mask because they were told to do so.  I don't see any information that this is the correct protocol for a school site or anywhere else. There is separate A/C heating unit ventilation and air purifier in the classroom so why does this teacher think the doors and windows need to be open in a classroom with no students and that it’s ok to not wear a mask?
A:  (Answer provided by the District)    In the classroom, this is what needs to be done daily to achieve adequate air exchanges and have the best possible air quality:  Keep ventilation running – AC or heat; Bring in the fresh air - open doors and windows; Leave air purifiers running on auto mode – set and forget, no need to change the setting or turn them off;  We want the ventilation running more – centrally monitored, it will start earlier and run later; Don’t run the  ceiling fans or wall-mounted fans – they can induce potentially contaminated airflow directly from one person over another; Wear required facial coverings – the first line of defense in limiting the number of airborne particles, which reduces airborne transmission of COVID-19.  Regarding mask wearing, a teacher working in their classroom alone (teaching online) could do so without their mask.  They need to put their mask on if they leave the room or if another person were to enter the room. Q:  There is a lot of confusion around E3 (new teacher evaluation) and the implementation.
A:  (Answer provided by AASD)  AASD met with district executive leadership and shared the concerns.  At AASD’s request, District leadership will be sending clarifying information to certificated administrators/managers regarding the process and implementation.
