  • DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS

  • 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR PLANNING
    Adjusted enrollment projection, site-based budgeting (SBB), and Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
    • As site principals, our responsibility is to ensure that all of our students master grade level standards by developing and implementing a Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) grounded in research-based strategies and aligns resources (SBB) to support improvement in student learning outcomes. 
    • This document provides an overview of the 2021-2022 SBB planning process and timelines. 
       
  • CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY - SITE DELIVERY
    • Technology equipment (webcams, tripods, and cables) are being delivered to schools in preparation for classroom based online learning options such as live streaming.
    • Until those plans are finalized and communicated, please store these items in a secure location.
      • Please DO NOT distribute the technology to your staff yet.
    • The Instructional Technology team is in the process of developing tutorial videos and sample lesson plans for best use/setup of these new tools. 
       
  • SPECIAL EDUCATION UPDATE: COMPLETING INITIAL AND TRIENNIAL ASSESSMENTS
    • We appreciate your site team’s efforts towards addressing overdue assessments; we notice significant improvement!  
    • Please continue “locking” both Initial and Triennial assessments. 
      • “Locking” assessments may require ongoing conversations, planning and coordination with site IEP teams to determine next steps for each individual overdue assessment. 
    • Please communicate any additional questions and necessary resources required to the assigned Area Instructional Coordinator:

  • RELENTLESS BOOK CLUB REMINDER
    • Hamish Brewer is partnering with us to support any site that would like to start a Relentless Book Club.  
    • The publisher is including special pricing for book purchases and Hamish is offering a free virtual Q&A session with your staff.

  • MAXIMIZING YOUR VEBA BENEFITS
    • Our District Wellness Council, in collaboration with CA Schools VEBA, Kaiser Permanente and UnitedHealthcare, has planned a new series of wellness webinars (January 26-28) for staff to Maximize Your San Diego Unified Benefits. In each session, we will share resources available through your district benefits to support employee health and wellbeing. See this flyer for additional information.
  • FOOD SERVICES: GRAB N' GO MEALS
    • Extra grocery items are available (while supplies last) at select sites on a rotating basis. Check the Grocery Item Schedule for Week of 1/25-1/29.  (All extra items this week consist of fresh produce bags only).
      • Please note:  We are awaiting new shipments of grocery box items from the USDA, so we will hopefully have the full boxes with dairy, protein and dry good items back to distribute in February.
    • Please remind your families that in addition to the extra food items on select days, they can also go to any of the 77 meal distribution locations daily, Monday-Friday from 12-2 p.m., to receive breakfast, lunch and supper meals for anyone 18 years and younger. 
      • That’s 21 nutritious meals per week available for each child all at no cost!
    • All curbside grab n’ go meal pick-up will continue as usual despite rainy weather!

  • AASD/DISTRICT "HOTLINE" INFORMATION
    The hotline established with the District is available to AASD unit members and other management who are charged with enforcing the health and safety policies and procedures.  Call the hotline when you need immediate assistance when conflicts arise, clarification is needed, or decisions must be made regarding health and safety matters. 

    This hotline is for ALL AASD represented members, both classified and certificated.  The hotline phone number is
    (619) 981-0760.  The hotline is available on all District workdays, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  In the rare event that a message must be left, all calls will be returned promptly, within the same day.
     
  • SPECIAL GRATITUDE
    If an AASD member has a department or individual that deserves special recognition during this time of crisis, please use the link below for reporting issues/questions/concerns/gratitude to show your gratitude for the department or individual.  AASD will publish that special thanks in our next Daily Update.

     
  • AASD OFFICE CLOSURE 
    AASD will be sending out a Daily Update, Monday-Friday, throughout the return to instruction/school reopening period.  The Weekly Update will continue as usual on Thursdays with the typical news and information for AASD members.  The AASD Office continues to remain closed.  AASD staff are working remotely and can be reached via the contact information at the end of this Update.

    AASD has created a Google Form for AASD Members to report issues, questions or concerns regarding work-related issues, COVID-19, return to instruction and school reopening.  AASD will provide answers to issues, questions or concerns submitted as answers become available.  You may also share your gratitude for another AASD member, district personnel, etc., via the same link.
