  • What is AASD’s purpose?
    We promote educational excellence in the San Diego Unified School District
The purpose of this organization is to promote educational excellence in the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) by representing the professional concerns of its members in their relations with the District and to serve as the exclusive collective bargaining representative of the supervisory employees of the SDUSD. AASD is to advocate for and represent its members pursuant to the Educational Employment Relations Act, commencing with Section 3540 of the Government Code (EERA), and to operate as a labor organization within the meaning of Section 23701a of the California Revenue and Taxation Code.

What can AASD do for you?

  • AASD is responsible for negotiating your contract with the district (located on our Home web page).
  • AASD serves as your exclusive representative in collective bargaining with the district regarding matters related to wages, health and welfare benefits, and hours of employment.
  • AASD provides assistance with leaves, transfers and reassignment policies, grievances, investigations, audits, and reclassifications to the extent deemed reasonable.
  • AASD offers on-the-job assistance, including dispute resolution to protect your employment rights and monitors the evaluation process and procedures to further protect your rights.
  • AASD offers mini grants to attend conferences within San Diego County, $100 limit.
  • AASD awards a $500 Student Scholarship to qualifying sons or daughters of members. The new applications for 2015 graduates will be coming out sometime in February 2015.
  • AASD provides a representative voice to the Superintendent and Board of Education.
