The 2013 Winter Holiday Dinner on Wednesday, December 11, enjoyed a record attendance of 175! AASD members and their guests welcomed Superintendent Cindy Marten to the most well-attended function of its kind in a number of years!
One of the chief goals of the Member Relations Committee is to increase member engagement. We continue to see increased attendance at all our social events from the varied groups served by AASD.
Views of the San Diego Bay and downtown skyline, coupled with the joyous atmosphere of the season, made a perfect recipe for a memorable evening.
The menu included beef with pearl onions and demi-glace, sea bass with a mango salsa and roasted vegetables. Each dish was absolutely scrumptious! On the dance floor Ruth Peshkoff, our Executive Director, and Jim Felix, Manager, Auxiliary Services Controls, enjoyed dancing the salsa and Jennifer Henry, Transportation Operations Supervisor, lead a soul train line!
Our first 50/50 Backpack Fundraiser brought in $400.00. All proceeds will be used to purchase backpacks and school supplies for our students in need throughout the district. In addition, the VAPA Department has committed to donating scissors for each backpack. 50/50 Backpacker Fundraiser activities will be held at social and business AASD events, please mark your calendars to attend, contribute, and catch up with your colleagues at the upcoming events planned by your AASD Member Relations Committee.
