After graduating from Crawford High School, Jesus returned to SDUSD as an employee for 34 years and retired as a School Police Sergeant. He has always been passionate about protecting his school community and union members. He has held various Executive Board positions with the San Diego Schools Police Officers Association (POA), and his last eight years have been on AASD’s Executive Board. He spearheaded various legislative lobbying efforts in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., which gave him the experience to help create and mentor AASD’s Legislative and Political Action (LAPA) Committee, paving the way for AASD to become involved in Sacramento’s legislative process and political arena. Upon his retirement in 2024, UASC/AASD contracted with Jesus to use his experience to guide our LAPA Committee and include our sister associations at Chula Vista (AACV) and Sweetwater (AASU). While serving on the Executive Boards of POA and AASD, Jesus has represented police officers and classified and certificated members through ADA Accommodations, disciplinary proceedings, and mediations. Jesus enjoys joining his wife, Amparo, on “her” vacations and spending time with their four adult children. During tax season, he enjoys mentoring college interns and community members in the IRS VITA Program as they prepare tax returns for low-income, disabled, and elderly individuals.

Labor Relations Representative
Email: jolie@unitedadmin.us

Dr. Jolie Pickett worked for the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) as both a classified and a certificated employee for 42 years: as an assistant, teacher, counselor, head counselor, vice principal, and principal. While principal at Garfield High School, she served as a mentor for the SDSU Aspiring Administrators program and was awarded the AASD Distinguished Leader Award. She was, however, most proud of the staff and students with whom she was able to work.

Jolie taught martial arts and self-defense workshops, for both SDUSD and the Institute of Tangsoology. She was also an instructor of health and nutrition classes for teachers completing their credentials at San Diego City College and SDSU, and consulted as a curriculum specialist for private companies.

Jolie’s union involvement and lobbying efforts include serving as Sr. High School Representative on the AASD Board Of Directors, followed by eight years as AASD President and serving on the Executive Boards of both AASD and United Administrators of Southern California (UASC). Since 2008, she has actively lobbied with the Recording Academy on behalf of musicians and music creators, helping to pass significant music legislation. After retiring from SDUSD, she became part of the team of Labor Relations Representatives for UASC, serving members in need of representation.
